A step-by-step journey from palette prep to the final artistic flourish. Take your time and enjoy the flow.
01. Essential Materials
For this project, we utilize high-pigment Acrylic Colors. Acrylics are perfect for beginners and pros alike because they dry fast and allow for rich layering.

02. Preparation
Clean Brushes
Ensure no residue from previous sessions. Acrylic dries hard!
Prep Palette
Lay out your palette in a clean, spacious area with good light.
Fresh Water
Keep two jars: one for cleaning, one for mixing clear water.
03. The Art of Mixing
Acrylic mixing is where the magic happens. Follow these steps to achieve the perfect consistency and hue:
Squeeze small amounts of primary colors onto the outer edge of your palette.
Use your brush to pull a small amount of paint to the center, adding a drop of water to reach a "heavy cream" consistency.
Refer to the Mixing Guide below to reach your desired hue. Blend slowly!
04. Painting Process
A Base Coat & Secondary Colors
Once your paints are ready, apply the base coat. Cover large areas like the rabbit's body first. While still slightly damp, you can blend in secondary colors for soft gradients.
B The Waiting Game
Wait until completely dry. This is crucial. If you apply details onto wet paint, they will smudge and lose their crispness. Usually takes 10-15 minutes.
C Small Details
Switch to your finest brush. Add eyes, nose, and any patterns. This is where your rabbit develops its unique personality! Use paint sparingly here.
